Cities of Purple and Gold

When it comes to world class cities, Johannesburg is one of the most ‘happening’ cities on the African continent and the city gleams with the glamour of money. Sedate, leafy Pretoria operates in a relative state of slumber, lying as it does in a warm, sheltered valley surrounded by the hills of the Magaliesberg range which ensure that temperatures here are a few degrees warmer than Johannesburg. We accompany you on this last leg of our Netchows Calendar - 2010 African Safari, with happiness that you are here, and sadness that you are soon leaving...

The Volcano that gave birth to a game reserve

       alt="Tourguides_JoelNurya" border="0" align="left" hspace="15" />

The crater of a long extinct volcano is the setting of Pilanesberg Game Reserve - a fascinating alkaline complex produced by volcanic eruptions some 1300 million years ago. But it is the hot air balloon rides over the reserve that are the major draw cards, and with good reason. Not only is this a unique experience, it offers a completely different way to experience Africa’s wildlife. Come along with us as we enjoy this, the penultimate leg of our '2010 Netchows Calendar' - African Safari...

Seeing 12 Days into the Future.

"The Free State landscape gladdens my heart, no matter what my mood. When I am here I feel that nothing can shut me in, that my thoughts can roam as far as the horizons." - Nelson Mandela.

In Sesotho, we say “Kgotso” (we greet you in peace!) “Tloho bone” (come and see!). We shall now proceed to the Free State province – where it is said, when you lie down on top of a hill & look towards the horizon, you can see 12 days into the future! It’s rich story starts at the beginning of time, dinosaurs roamed the plains, bushmen recorded life with art in sandstone caves. It's expansive plains, vibrant cities, picturesque villages, natural wonders & smiling people will welcome you.....

The Zulu Kingdom

       alt="TheTourguides" border="0" align="left" hspace="15" />

Our travels now take us to KwaZulu Natal home of famed King Shaka Zulu. The Zulu name for Durban is eThekwini, meaning "The Place Where the Earth and the Ocean Meet". The beautiful ocean lined with golden beaches, rolling green hills & subtropical weather make KwaZulu Natal an all year round popular destination. It is too, the foundation-ground for our direct ancestors. Come along with us on a nostalgic part of the tour…
As we wake up surrounded by the peace of the magnificent Tsitsikamma Forest and enjoy the smell of sausages on the fire, our instincts make us restless - telling us it’s time to move on with our travels. We will now take you through the Eastern Cape Province, home of the “Friendly City”, partly the traditional home of the Xhosa peoples, and the birthplace of many prominent South Africans, such as Nelson Mandela, Thabo Mbeki, Steve Biko and Charles Coghlan. A few of our chow chow cousins also live & own humans here…

Leading you up the Garden Path...

       alt="Twins at sea" border="0" align="left" hspace="15" />

Part of the beautiful Cape Province is the famed Garden Route. Ancient forests such as the magnificent Knysna forest with towering yellow wood & black wood trees form an integral part of this tourist route. The remainder of the elephants living in the Knysna forest, being rather elusive, are a great magnet and along with the forest was also the inspiration for the wonderful book “Circles in a Forest” by Dalene Matthee. A movie was also based on this book. Join us as we lead you along this famed Garden Route.

During this time of the year, throughout Southern Africa, we encounter the ubiquitous Cosmos flowers, brightening our roadways in all their colourful splendour. Our trip will take us now down to the Western and Southern Cape Province areas – highly popular tourist destinations. The famed wine-routes, that which is termed the fairest city – Cape Town – on the Cape Peninsula, as well as up along the Garden Route are all part of the tour.
