Ay, his hips...
Was there also another check with respect to his knees?
I think when the cartilage is affected this is -so far my knowledge goes - an irreversible process.
Muscle formation is important, as Janneke suggests.
Whatever therapy, it is also important to know how the conditions are of the other joints....(in particular the knees).

No therapy was mentioned except for nutritional supplements. I think I should just limit his walking and no running. At home he does not run except for occasional zoomies.

But there are many things you can do to h elp, just like everyone here is saying. Certainly aqua therapy and there are loads of holistic alternatives on the marketplace, so there is hope for all of you.
